Jacob was born in Sweden in 1881 and came to America when he was one year old.  His parents homesteaded south of Newman Grove, Nebraska.  His mother died in 1883 and his father married again in 1893.  The family moved to a farm on Cedar Creek.  Maude Bennett was born in Elgin, Nebraska in 1886.  Jacob and Maude moved to a farm northeast of Elgin.  In 1905 their first child, Alta, was born; Clinton in 1906 died 1907.  Jacob went to South Dakota for a period of time.  A son, Kenneth, was born.  Life was hard and so was the water, so Jacob brought his family back to Nebraska.  Ruth Lindberg was born in 1912, John Lindberg in 1915, Carl in 1917, Robert in 1922, Donald in 1924 and Joyce in 1927.  Robert died in 1926.  Once the children were grown, Jacob and Maude moved to California in retirement.
