Abraham Ludwick, born 1762 in Germany, emigrated with his mother as a young boy, settling in Mercer County, Pennsylvania.  He married Susan McBride, daughter of James McBride born in Ireland in 1705, died at the age of 107 in 1812.  After Susan’s death, Abraham married a Mrs French with two children.  Abraham and Susan were parents of Margaret, Susan, Mariah, Jacob.  Margaret married Peter Shook and moved to Marion County, Ohio.  She took her sisters and brother with her.  Jacob married Hester Meyers

Jonathan Meyers Ludwick, son of Jacob Ludwick and Hester Meyers, was born December 22, 1841 in Ripley County, Indiana and died December 3, 1924 at Orchard, Nebraska.  Harriet Rutilla Burr, daughter of Horace Burr and Rutilla Sage, was born May 25, 1843 in Indiana and died in December 1891.  Jonathan married Harriet on December 22, 1865 at Purceville, Indiana.  Their children:  William S Ludwick, July 10, 1866, Ripley County, married Ella Mead; Lillie Ludwick died at childbirth but her daughter lived; Wilson J Ludwick, May 4, 1868, Ripley County, married Mary Linzette Kessler; Mary Ludwick, August 23, 1869, Jasper County, Iowa, married George Rice; Ida S Ludwick, August 17, 1871, Jasper County, married Bert Kanouse; Edna P Ludwick, October 9, 1872, Jasper County, married Lora Holbrook; George Otterbein Ludwick, May 25, 1874, Jasper County, married Margaret A Morisette; Silas Centurian Ludwick, February 19, 1876, Jasper County, married Ida Elizabeth Baker; Hester Rutilla Ludwick, May 31, 1878, Jasper County, married Clement B Cook; Joseph Hays Ludwick, September 6, 1881, Jasper County, married Grace Bigelow; and Margaret died in infancy.  Jonathan M Ludwick served in the Civil War.  He never remarried after Harriet’s death.
