MR. JAMES MANNING DIES
  James Manning, who was accidentally impaled on a lariat pin a couple of weeks ago, an account of which was given by the ITEM at the time, died Sunday evening between 9 and 10 o’clock, at his home nine miles north of Ewing. His death was precipitated by the bursting of a main artery which had been badly bruised from contact with the pin. The day of his death Mr. Manning was feeling quite well and cheerful.  Having a good appetite, he expressed a desire for some fresh oysters.  An attendant was accordingly dispatched to Ewing to procure the oysters for him, and it was while these were being prepared that the hemorrhage set in, resulting in a very few hours fatally.  Mr. Manning was the son of L.W. Manning and was 31 years, 7 months and 1 day old at the time of his death.  He had been married 10 years, and leaves a wife and five small children, the youngest of which is but a couple of weeks old, having been born since Mr. Manning met with the accident which culminated in his death.  To the kind friends and neighbors who assisted in ministering to the wants and comforts of her husband Mrs. Manning desires us to extend her heartfelt thanks.
