Mr and Mrs Fritz Oppliger were
married in Bern, Switzerland on February 3, 1905. They came to
America on February 4, 1910 when Fritz was 30 years old. He was born
September 11, 1879 at Ersigen, Switzerland. Rosa Shupback was born
November 18, 1879 at Obergoldback, Switzerland. They left
Switzerland by ship and were on the ship for seven days. They landed
in New York. Rosa was ill all the while on ship as she was pregnant.
They had two little girls at the time: Rosie 3, and Hattie 11/2.
Shortly after arriving by train in Tilden they lost their expectant
child. They farmed west of Tilden where Fritz was a cattle buyer and
also worked at the sale barn. They retired to live in Tilden in
1941. A daughter, Rosa Vogt, died in 1935. Their other children
were: Hattie, Marie, Freddie and Rudy.
