Fredrick
Schindler, son of Ferdinand Schindler and Elizabeth Latzel, was born on June
10, 1893 in a sod house southwest of Ewing, Nebraska. He attended District #146 of Ewing. He taught school for three years in Holt
and Ewing counties. Lucy Tagel,
daughter of Ludwig Tagel and Lucy Huffman was born December 31, 1896 at
Herzogsdorf, Austria. She came to
America in 1910. Fred and Lucy were
married on June 20, 1916 at Ewing. Fred farmed in the Ewing area until 1924 and then they moved to Elgin
to farm. They were parents of eight
children: Lambert, married Stella
Jochum. Max, married Darlene
Heithoff. Father Frederic O.S.B.
Vincent, married LaRaine Mummert. Betty,
married John Thiele. Maurice died in
infancy. Mary Jean married Durane
Doinzan, then Raymond Meusch. Rose
Marie married Henry Schuetha. Lucy
died on January 30, 19964 at Elgin. Fred remarried to Laura Bauwens Tagel on September 12, 1975 and moved
to Neligh.
