Rudy
Schindler was the sixth child of Ferdinand Schindler and Elizabeth
Latzel. He was born on February 2,
1898 south of Ewing in Holt County. Faye
Agatha Torpy, daughter of James Torpy and Bertha Jackson, was born September
18, 1902 at Randolph, Iowa. She lost
her mother when she was three and her father at the age of 11. Ella and John McCluskey took care of her
and her sister, Mildred. When Faye
was in the fourth or fifth grad, she and her sister, moved to Omaha and lived
in St Peter’s Hall and went to St Mary’s High School. After graduation, Faye went to the
University of Omaha and St Mary’s College. She received her teaching certificate in 1924. She taught in Omaha for two years. In the summer months she often visited in
Elgin. Rudy and Faye were married
August 17, 1926 in Omaha and made their home on a farm west of Elgin. They had three daughters: Rudina Marie was born on November 8,
1927. She married Alvin Tupa, two
children. Later she married Howard
Mickelson who had two children. They
had one son. Grace Delima was born
January 25, 1930, married Richard White, one daughter. Grace married Steven Roberts, he died, she
married R W McDowell. They had four
children. Mary Ellen, third daughter,
born June 6, 1933, married H M McGee, one daughter. Rudy and Faye moved to Denver in 1972. He died there on May 19, 1976.
