Florence
Muriel Stringfellow was born to John Irving Stringfellow and Ida Payne in
1903. She graduated from the Oakdale High
School and then attended Wayne State College and Nebraska Weslyan
University. She returned to Oakdale
to teach first in county schools south of Oakdale and then in Neligh. She married Gerrit V. Tyler, a newspaper
man of Ainsworth. They published “The
Spalding Enterprise”. Their four
children: Lois Marian married William Ralph Slaughter, four children; Gerrit
Van married Margaret Schmer and they had five children; Phyllis Jean married Robert Gaston, two
children; and Robert Tyler married Katherine Vondra, three children. Muriel died in 1944.
