Carl Oscar Swanson was born in Ostergotland, Sweden on
July 3, 1864. He came to this country
in 1892. His mother, Mrs
Charlie(Wiehelmina) Schultz was already here and lived in the Park Center
community. Christina Johanson was
born in Vastergotland, Sweden on July 31, 1862. After Carl was gone for a year, he sent for her and in 1893 she
came to America. They were married on
August 31, 1893 in Neligh, Nebraska. They
were farmers and lived in the Park Center community for four years when they
moved east of Elgin. They settled in
the Cedar Creek community. Their
children were: Elmer, John Joseph and
Esther Elizabeth (the twins) and Reuben. Elsie was born in 1908 and died in 1912. Carl and Christina enjoyed 61 years of marriage before she died
in 1954 and Carl in 1961.
