BENJAMIN TAYLOR, son of Lieutellas Taylor and Mary Mershon, was born December 10, 1873 at Anamosa, Iowa and died October 10, 1953 at Tilden, Nebraska.  Ben grew up on a farm in Shelby County, Iowa near Harlan.  On February 4, 1894 he married Lillie Belle Salter.  In 1902 he moved with his wife and two children, Sylvia and Harold, to a farm in Antelope County south of Tilden.  They farmed all their lives until retirement.  They were parents of eight children:  Sylvia married Floyd Russell and moved to Idaho, three daughters;  Harold married Edith Grace and settled in Grants Pass, Oregon.  Hazel married Garnet James and farmed in Antelope county.  Dorothy married Reed James and lived in California and New Hampshire, three children; Everett married Rosalind Shoff, two daughters; Richard married Fern Warneke, three children; Marjorie married Boyd Shupe, five children; and Donald married Agnes Kvamme.
