The chronology of the Thiessen family in America starts on February 16, 1882. JACOBUS HENDRIKUS and Hubert Thiessen came on May 15, 1882. Their parents were Joannes Hubertus Thissen and Anna Barbara Snyder. They arrived on October 19, 1882. Jacob, later known as Harry, was born June 3, 1860 in roermoond, Limburg Province, Holland. His work brought him to Council Bluffs, Iowa. ELISE ELSHEIMER was born Decmeber 5, 1865 at Undenheim Hessen Darmstadt, Germany. They were married October 24, 1885 at Omaha, Nebraska. They were parents of two children, Anna Barbara, 1886, and Catharine Louise (1888). Harry was a brick mason in Omaha. In 1894 he came to Antelope County and homesteaded six miles east of Neligh. About 1910, he sold the farm and moved into Neligh. Harry died in 1933 and Elsie in June, 1950.
