PATRICK
JAMES TIERNEY was born in Nottaway County, Missouri on September 1,
1864. He left Missouri at the age of
17 years, going to Madison County, Nebraska, where he worked for the city. He married LOTTIE KNAPP on February 20,
1886. She was born in Williams
County, Illinois on September 18, 1869. She and her parents left Illinois and move to Madison County in 1871. Patrick and Lottie had thirteen
children. ELIZABETH, 1887, married
John Bartman. They made their home in
Kearney, six children; FRANK, 1889, married Ella Lewis, then Nell Shell. They lived in Oakdale, Albion, Elgin,
Norfolk, Neligh and Omaha, five children; GEORGE, 1893, married Elsie Peets in 1914, eight children; NELL, 1896, married Edward Henshew, one son; MARIE, 1898, married Harry Lee, one son,
she married Edward Henshew, eleven children; JOHN, 1900, married Ruby Bassett, six children; LAURA, 1902, married
George Kohl, one son killed in accident, married Thomas Kelly, two daughters;
STELLA, 1905, married Frank Schroeder, 12 children; GRACE, 1908, married August LaVerne Johnson, six children; LEE, 1911, married Aileen Beers, three
daughters; GERTIE, 1913, married Jim
Goray, married Clarence Fritz. Patrick and Lottie raised several of their grandchildren. Patrick died on September 24, 1926 and
Lottie on May 17, 1936.
