Keith Torpin was born in Oakdale, Nebraska in 1892, son of Charles H. Torpin and Effie May Hollister.  He attended Oakdale schools and two years at Nebraska Wesleyan.  In 1915 he married Vera Vivian Stanley in Clarks, Nebraska.  They resided on the Torpin Ranch west of Elgin until 1917 when they moved to Oakdale where Keith became associated with the Torpin Grain Company.  He continued in the business until 1939 when the elevator was closed.  He became a salesman for the I D Russell Company of Kansas City.  They lived in South Dakota and resided in Mitchell until their deaths.  Vera attended the Clarks public schools and Nebraska Wesleyan and assisted in establishing the public library in Oakdale.  She died in 1965.  Keith died in 1980.  They were parents of five boys:  R Stanley, Keith Jr, Kenneth Paul, Charles Hollister and Quentin W, all born in Oakdale.
