Emanuel Uhrenholdt (1886-1970) and Julia Jensen
(1887-1955) were born in Denmark and came to America in 1908. Emanuel’s brothers, Villads and Alfred
were already in Antelope County. Julia’s brothers, Ole, Chris and Anais were living in Iowa. Emanuel and Julia knew each other in
Denmark and were engaged. They both
worked for the Kinney family near Park Center in 1909 and 1910. They were married January 2, 1910 at Park
Center. They began farming on rented
farms and finally bought a farm southwest of Elgin. They were parents of Verna, June, Iris, George, Edith, and
Eugene. Iris and Edith attended Elgin
High School. Emanuel sold commercial
feeds in the 30’s and moved into Elgin.
