JOSEPH A. VON BONN, son of Bernard Von Bonn and Theresia Tunink, was born southwest of Elgin in the South Clay Ridge area on November 15, 1915. He had one brother and five sisters, Marie, Sally, Viola, Irene, Dorothy and Eugene. His father was killed in a tornado in 1939 and his mother died in 1969. Joseph served in WWII from 1942 to 1945. He married BETTY JANE FINK, the daughter of Loton Fink and Ruth Matson on February 26, 1946. Betty was born on October 29, 1923 southwest of Elgin. She had two brothers and two sisters, Allie Mae, Keith, Audrey and Richard. Her father died in 1977 and her mother in 1983. The couple farmed southwest of Elgin for many years until they moved to Elgin in 1981. They are the parents of two sons, Richard Francis and Douglas Keith.
