JAMES RAY WYLIE was born in 1888 on a farm northwest of Elgin. He was the fourth child of John and Nancy Wylie. He was united in marriage to Jessie Cate of Pierce in 1909. They were parents of four children: Lawrence, Merle, Eileen and Virginia. They lived in Clearwater for a few years and then moved back to Elgin. They ran the Logan Hotel until his death in 1940. Jessie passed away in Seattle in 1967. Lawrence, born in 1911, married Ruth Armstrong. He passed away in 1985 in Seattle. Merle, born in 1915, married Vivian Switzer and died in Elgin in 1940. Eileen was born in 1919, married glen Stringfellow and died in 1982 in Seattle. Virginia, 1926, married Bob Hansen and lives in Seattle.
