County Country Schools --

District No. 38 **Known as: Pick School

Blaine Township

The first school organized in the township was District 38 in 1880.  The pupils attended only two or three months at a time, taking time out to plant and gather crops.  Pupils ages ranged from 4 to 20.  In 1909, the school was moved to what is now in 1973 the Edgar Bridge farm.  In 1910 it was moved to the farm of Arthur Pick and became the Pick School.  A new school was built in 1915.  There was also a bin for cobs and coal for fuel and a barn for horses ridden by the pupils.
The largest attendance was in 1917 with 38 pupils, the smallest in 1911 with twelve.  There were 3 families who had 7 children in school at one time—these families were the John Beck, Oakley Hunt and the Bill Barr family.
This school is attended by children in the east half of Blaine Township.  The west part of the township attend Clearwater Public School (1974.)
