W. R. “Ray” Barton, son of William and Mamie Barton, was born on April 26, 1916 in Garfield County, Nebraska.  He graduated from Royal High School in the class of 1934.  He served as a radio operator in the U S Army Air Corps.  He was on a B-17 out of Guam when his plane disappeared while on a mission in the South Pacific on June 15, 1945.
