William K. Dales entered the army in December 1942.  After basic and advanced training, he was sent to the Pacific in Hawaii and 494th Engineers in the Saipan Invasion.  He was discharged in December 1945.  He returned to Tilden and married Betty Garrison.  They have two children.  He retired in 1988.
