Peter Walter Downs was inducted into the Navy on September 29, 1944.  He received his training at Great Lakes, Illinois, California and was assigned to the US Navy Supply Depot at Saipan.  He was discharged on May 6, 1946.  Peter married Florence Harvey in 1947 and then farmed for three years.  Later he was employed by Beech Electric; Elkhorn Rural Public Power and the Nebraska Public Power.  He retired in 1991 and lives in Central City, Nebraska.
