MYRTLE MAE HICKS AYRES, 1905-1998

Funeral services for Myrtle AYRES, 90, of Nebraska City, were held Monday, November 9, in Nebraska City. The Rev. David DARMAN of the First Baptist Church officiated. Graveside services were held Monday afternoon at the Oakdale Cemetery with Alvin Schwarting of the Oakdale Church of Christ officiating. Myrtle Mae HICKS, daughter of Frank and Alberta WHITE HICKS, was born May 26, 1905 at Jonesboro, TN. She was a former resident of Oakdale and had also lived in Seattle, WA and Fremont before moving to Nebraska City in 1996. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Oakdale. Mrs. AYRES died Thursday, November 5, 1998 at the Nebraska City Manor. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, George AYRES, her husband Emery AYRES, a granddaughter, four brothers and a sister. Survivors include four daughters and their husbands, Patricia and Fay GREEN of Council Bluffs, IA, Emogene and Dale E SOPER of Soldoma, AK, Dorothy and John PATTERSON of Seattle, and Evelyn Jim HOPKINS of Seattle; two sons and their wives, Frank and Janice AYRES of Lincoln and Everett and Sheryl AYRES of Seattle, 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild and a sister, Sarah REDDEN of Nebraska.
