GEORGE LEROY (ROY) BLACK

Funeral services for George LeRoy (Roy) BLACK, 73, of Neligh were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 14 at the United Methodist Church of Neligh with pastors Michael KISSNER and Adrian ATKINS officiating. Music was provided by Mrs Michael KISSNER, soloist, and W. C. COWIN, organist. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery with Gene SMITH, Robert LUNDQUIST, Vernon GOOD, Randy NELSON, Phil HART, and Allan HANSON serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers included Alvin NELSON, Don NELSON, Clarence JOHNSON, Robert F GASKILL, John BLANDT, Alan TAEGE, Herman HANSON and Charles RAYMOND. George LeRoy BLACK, son of George and Susan Clause BLACK, was born February 11, 1911, a Naper, and died May 11, 1984, at Antelope Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. BLACK attended school at Naper and then moved to Stanton County in 1928. In 1935, he moved to a farm south of Plainview. On May 15, 1936, he was married to Ruth F HAUSWIRTH in the Methodist parsonage in Neligh. Shortly after that, the couple moved to a farm in the Dutch Hollow community. In 1946, they bought a farm Northeast of Neligh where they lived until BLACK retired from farming. In 1974, they moved into their home in Neligh and BLACK continued to work as a carpenter for several years. BLACK was member of the Neligh Seventh Day Adventist Church and of the Neligh Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter and two brothers. Survivors include his wife, Ruth, of Neligh, one daughter, Mrs James (Jeanne) ROBBINS of Vail, Colorado, one sister, Mrs Clarence (Ruth) BRIGGS of Sheridan, Wyoming, and two grandchildren.

JERRY LEE BLACK

Abridged: Private services will be held for Miss Jerry Lee BLACK, 24, a native of Neligh, who was found slain in her Omaha home Saturday evening, April 24, 1976. Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery. Jerry Lee BLACK was born September 29, 1951, at Tilden to George Leroy BLACK and Ruth Francis HAUSWIRTH BLACK. She was raised in the Neligh area where her father farmed. She was a 1968 graduate of Neligh High School. Survivors include her parents, one sister, Mrs James (Jeannine) ROBBINS of Lincoln, two nephews, Tim and Tom, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
