Mrs. DOUGHTY dies at 97

By the death of Eva Ann Doughty at the age of 97 years, 8 months and 23 days, Clearwater lost its oldest woman citizen last Saturday. Death resulted from an injury she received about four months ago when she fell and broke her hip. Burial was made in the Fairview cemetery, eight miles southwest of Clearwater, with the Rev. Emmet Hayes officiating. She was born in Ohio on March 16, 1825. She is survived by seven children, Mrs. Cynda Coughty of Clearwater, James Sheets of Taylor Valley, Thomas Sheets of Clearwater: Mrs. Celestine Beattie of Colorado, Mrs. Sarah Caswell of Whitney, Neb.; Frank Sheets of Sioux City, Mrs. Elnora Huff of Kimball, Neb. There were also twenty-eight grandchildren, fifty-five great-grandchildren and thirty-five great-great- grandchildren. She was married three times, first to William Gardner, second to George Sheets and the last time to William Doughty, all of whom preceeded her in death. Out-of-town relatives who were here for the funeral were: Mrs. Elnora Huff and son of Kimball, ; Mrs. and Mrs. Frank Sheets, Mr. and Mrs. James Mason and James Kenson of Sioux City.
