Obituary-The Neligh News-February 1960

ANNA PAHL EISSLER

Mrs Fred EISSLER, 84, was born April 3, 1875 in Germany and died February 24, 1960 at the Lutheran Hospital in Norfolk where she had been a patient a week. She had been ill since Christmas and had lived with her daughter, Mrs Fred LUEBE at Pierce for seven years. Funeral services were conducted from the Congregational Church at Pierce Sunday with the Rev. W. REID preaching the sermon. Burial was made at the Oakdale Cemetery. Acting pallbearers at Pierce and Oakdale were Lewis WAGNER, Gwyn WINGATE, Lee TIMM, William TIMM, Guy FREDINBURG, Al CHAVET, William EISSLER and Jimmy DJENSKI. Anna PAHL lost her mother at an early age and came to America with her father, sisters and brothers when seven years of age. She worked at dressmaking and millinery in Omaha and Norfolk before her marriage March 14, 1899 to Fred EISSLER of Oakdale. Two daughters were born to them, Gertrude and Myrtle. Mr and Mrs EISSLER farmed east of Oakdale ten years and moved to Oakdale in 1909 because of her poor health. She lived there until after the death of Mr EISSLER, when she went to Pierce to live with her daughter, Mrs Gertrude LUEBE. When in Oakdale she was associated with the Presbyterian Church. She joined the Congregational Church at Pierce after moving there. Mrs EISSLER is survived by one daughter, three grandsons and five great grandchildren.

DOROTHEA GEAIEKE EISSLER

Abridged: Dorothea EISSLER nee GEAIEKE, was born in Hanover, Germany January 20, 1843 and died at her home two miles west of Oakdale, January 5, 1925 attaining an age of 81 years, 11 months, and 6 days. She grew to womanhood in Germany and was united in marriage to John EISSLER at Long Grove, Illinois, December 9, 1868. To this union were born nine children; one son and one daughter preceded them in death. She is survived by 3 sons, John and Fred EISSLER of Oakdale and Albert EISSLER of Jay Em, WY, and 4 daughters, Mrs Emma WAGNER, Mrs Dora PETERS and Mrs C TIMM of Oakdale and Mrs Clara MALMBORG of Jay Em, WY; besides 31 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, one brother Louis GEAIEKE of Welcome, MN and one sister Mrs Louise DUNTON of Arlington Heights, Illinois. In 1884 she with her husband and children moved to Nebraska, locating on a farm 2 miles east of Oakdale, where she resided until her death. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Thursday afternoon, January 8, Rev. DUENSING of Tilden officiating. Interment was in the Oakdale Cemetery.

Frederich EISSLER

Abridged: Funeral services were held Thursday for Fred Eissler at the Methodist Church. Interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery. Frederich Eissler, son of the late John and Dorthea Eissler, was born August 17, 1871 at Long Grove, IL. After a brief illness, he passed away June 8, 1953. At the age of 12, he came with his parents to a farm east of Oakdale. On March 14, 1899 he was united in marriage to Anna Paul of Norfolk. They were the parents of two daughters. In 1909 they moved to Oakdale to a new home they built and lived there until his death. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mrs Myrtle Kauffroath, in 1943, also by his parents, three sisters, and two brothers. He is survived by his widow, Anna, a daughter, Mrs Gertrude Luebe of Pierce, three grandchildren, Harlan and Gene Kauffroath of Omaha and Jalene Luebe, two sisters, Mrs Carrie Timm of Neligh and Mrs Emma Wagner of Oakdale, one brother, Albert of Casper, WY, also a number of nieces and nephews.

John EISSLER

Abridged. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Wednesday for John Eissler who died in Omaha. Interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery. John Eissler was born December 22, 1869 at Long Grove, Lake County, IL and passed away February 23, 1953 at Omaha. He came with his parents to Nebraska October 10, 1884 and settled on a farm east of Oakdale at which place he spent most of his life. In 1908 he was united in marriage to Martha Eyman at the Tilden. To this union was born two sons, John and Bill, and one daughter, Mrs Cecilia Dudzinski, all living in Omaha. Besides his loving wife and children he also leaves to mourn two brothers, Fred of Oakdale and Albert of Casper, WY, two sisters, Mrs Emma Wagner of Oakdale and Mrs Carrie Timm of Neligh; three grandchildren, Ronald Eissler and Barbara and Jimmy Dudzinski all of Omaha.

John EISLER

Abridged: John Eisler was born June 19, 1843 in Alsace-Lorraine at that time belonging to France. At the age of 13 years, he came to Illinois and made his home with his grandfather and an uncle. In October 1864, he enlisted in Co. E, 32nd IL, Infantry and was honorably discharged in 1865. He was with Sherman's army on the march to the sea. On December 9, 1868 he was married to Dorothy Gieske at Long Grove, IL. To this union were born nine children, one son and one daughter preceding him in death. In 1884 he moved with his family to a farm near Oakdale, Nebraska at which place he resided until his death December 10, 1921. He is survived by his wife, and three sons and four daughters: Mrs Dora Peters of Neligh, John Eisler, Fred Eisler, Mrs Emma Wagner of Oakdale, Mrs Carrie Timm of Neligh, Albert Eisler, Mrs Clara Malmborg of Jay Em, WY. Besides thirty-one grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two brothers, Jacob and Cristian Eisler of Long Grove, IL. The funeral services were held December 13 at the Oakdale M. E. Church. Burial was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.

WILLIAM (BILL) EISSLER

Graveside services for William (Bill) EISSLER, 78, of Branson, Missouri, formerly of Oakdale, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 30 at the Oakdale Cemetery with Rev. Alvin SCHWARTING officiating. EISSLER was born January 1, 1906, at Oakdale, and died June 22, 1964, at Branson, Missouri. He attended Oakdale public schools, graduating in 1926. He was a basketball and baseball player, going on to play in the big leagues. EISSLER was a left-handed pitcher, pitching for one of Casey Stengel’s teams. In 1936, EISSLER married Millie MORELAND. They moved to Branson, Missouri in 1971 after EISSLER retired from his work in Omaha. Among those attending the graveside rites were EISSLER’S widow, Millie, and a friend, Mary TOMLINSON of Branson, Missouri, Mrs Irvin JAMES and Fred SAILORS of Tilden, Mrs Venus THATCH of Madison, Mr and Mrs Al CHAVET of Plainview, Mrs Evelyn Wagner and Mrs Michael WAGNER of Elgin, Mrs Dorothy ESCRITT of Neligh, and Mrs Charlotte TAYLOR, Mr and Mrs Ralph KINNAN, Mr and Mrs Gwyn WINGATE, Mr and Mrs Ralph EDWARDS, Mr and Mrs Irvin WAGNER, and Albert PETERS, all of Oakdale. Following the services, lunch was served at the Gwyn WINGATE home.
