GERDA DAHLEN ENGELSON

Funeral services for Gerda ENGELSON, 80, of Norfolk, formerly of Oakdale, were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 17 at Hoepfinger-Beyer Funeral Home in Neligh with Rev. Gary MAIN officiating. Music was provided by Mrs Donald WEINMAN, pianist, and Mrs James MCNALLY, vocalist. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Pallbearers were Stanley MEYER, Brent MEYER, Jeff MYER, Kip ENGELSON, Harlan BRANDT and Bennie BRANDT. Gerda M ENGELSON, daughter of John and Marie DAHLEN, was born May 22, 1908, at Niobrara, and died Tuesday, February 14, 1989, at the Norfolk Nursing Center. She attended Niobrara Public School. On January 17, 1933 she married Ole ENGELSON at Butte. He died November 27, 1985. The ENGELSONs made their home in Niobrara until 1954 when they moved to Oakdale. Three years ago, Mrs ENGELSON became a resident of the Norfolk Nursing Center. She was a member of Trowel Chapter 62, Order of Eastern Star, a past member of Grand Chapter of Nebraska, Order of Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, an infant daughter, two brothers and a half brother. Surviving are two sons, Ole Dean of Sweet Springs, Missouri, and Richard J of Creston, Iowa, one daughter, Mrs Stanley (Susan) MEYER of Norfolk, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

OLE ENGELSON

Funeral services for Ole ENGELSON, 80, of Oakdale were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 30 at Hoepfinger-Beyer Funeral Home in Neligh with Rev. Richard Odgers officiating. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Pallbearers were George STRASSLER, Norman LARABEE, James DICKERSON, Kenneth BENNETT, Charles EGGERS and William REYNOLDS. Trowel Lodge 71 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons provided masonic rites at the cemetery. Military services were conducted by Neligh American Legion Post 172 and Neligh VFW Post 5287. Ole ENGELSON was born December 22, 1906, in Norway, and died November 27, 1985 at a Norfolk hospital. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Norway, coming to the United States in 1925. He lived near Niobrara. On January 17, 1933, he married Gerda DAHLEN of Butte. ENGELSON was a World War II Navy veteran and had been a member of the Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years. At the time of his death, he was a member of Trowel Lodge 71 A. F. and A. M. in Neligh. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one sister and an infant daughter. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ole Dean of Sweet Springs, Missouri and Richard of Creston, Iowa; one daughter, Mrs Stanley (Susan) MEYER of Norfolk; one sister, Ingrid, living in Norway; and seven grandchildren.
