WALTER ANTHONY FLAKUS

Funeral services for Walter Anthony (Lonnie) FLAKUS of Oakdale were held Thursday, July 5 at 10 a.m. at the St Francis Catholic Church in Neligh. Fr. Clifford Stevens officiated at the services with burial in the Oakdale Cemetery. Pallbearers were James LYONS, William O EVANS, Emil HLADOVCAK, John EMERSON, Munsey WINGATE, and Mark SEHI. Honorary pallbearers were Jess YATES, Homer WINGATE, Jim JUDD, Virtus SEHI, Clarence SHERMAN, Julius HOEFER and Keith WHITE Jr. Walter Anthony FLAKUS was born November 5, 1906, at Duncan to Stanley and Anna Kastalenda FLAKUS and died at his residence in Oakdale, July 2, 1979, at the age of 72 years, 7 months and 27 days. He grew to manhood in Duncan and moved to Genoa in 1924. On February 28, 1949 he was married to Pearl Tuttle ALDERSON of Sioux City, Iowa. For the past several years he worked as a mechanic in the Oakdale and Neligh area. He had resided in Oakdale the past ten years. Survivors include his wife Pearl, six step children, LaVern DAGGETT of Sumner, Washington, James D DAGGETT of Redlands, California, Mrs Betty CRANMER of Tujunga, California, Mrs Lester (Violet) STRONG of Norfolk, Mrs James (Shirley) GALLAGHER of O’Neill and Billy ALDERSON of Neligh, 19 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, four brothers, John of St Edward, Henery of Genoa, Louis of Omaha, and Lawrence of Wellsville, one sister, Louise MURPHY of Bakersfield, California and a number of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.
