FRANCIS B GARRISON

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 15 at 2 p.m. at the Hoepfinger Home for Funerals for Dr F. B. GARRISON of Oakdale with the Rev. K Lowell GAITHER officiating. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery with Raymond CROSIER, Louis KINNAN, Leonard OBERSHAW, Ivan KINNAN, Merle BRINK, and Ralph KINNAN serving as pallbearers. Dr. F. B. GARRISON was born September 11, 1896 at Missouri Valley, Iowa and died Sunday, June 12, 1966 at the Methodist Hospital, Omaha, at the age of 69 years, 9 months and 1 day. He moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa, in 1910 where he attended Abraham Lincoln High School and later graduated from the Creighton University School of Dentistry, Omaha. Dr GARRISON set up practice in 1920 at Oakdale sharing an office with the late Dr SCHLUMBERGER. He maintained this same office for 44 years. In 1930 he was married to Helen A HANA, formerly of the Star community. To this union one son, Edgar, was born in August 1933. Dr GARRISON was a member of the American Dental Association, Nebraska State Dental Association, was past president of the Northern District Dental Society, member of Trowel LODGE No. 71 A F and A M and a charter member of Boy Scouts of America. His friends knew him as an avid sportsman and a booster of the Nebraska Wild Life Association. He contributed to the stocking of thousands of fish and pheasants throughout the lakes and FIELDS of Nebraska. Dr GARRISON was one oaf Antelope County’s biggest promoters for charity drives, ranging from Red Cross to Polio. He is survived by his wife, Helen, one son, Captain Edgar GARRISON stationed in Paris, France, two grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs Harriett BRYANT of Council Bluffs and Mrs Fannie HEADLEE of Cresant, Iowa.

HELEN A HANA GARRISON

Funeral services for Mrs Helen A GARRISON of Lincoln, widow of the later Dr. F B GARRISON of Oakdale, were held Friday, November 3 at Hoepfinger’s Home for Funerals at Neligh at 2 p.m. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery with Leonard BENNETT, Kerry TAYLOR, Merle BRINK, Faye (Bud) DIETZ, Dr William MURPHY, and Raymond CROSIER serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Clyde WELLS, Joe RUZLCHA, Dr R I HERSE, Howard HAILE, Harry GRAHAM, A W CONTOIS, James A ASMUSSEN and Arthur LICHTENBERG. Mrs GARRISON was born September 29, 1901 and died November 1, 1967 at a Lincoln Hospital at the age of 66 years. She was born in the Star community to James and Lena HANA and lived in that community until she was 13 years of age then moved to Elgin. She was later employed in Norfolk until her marriage to Dr F B GARRISON, May 10, 1930. She resided in Oakdale for 36 years and for the past several months she had made her home in Lincoln with her son, Edgar and family. She was preceded in death by her husband and is survived by her son, Major Edgar GARRISON of Lincoln, three grandchildren, and two sisters, Alvena ADAMS of Cyprus, California and Cristina LEFLER of Torrence, California and one brother, Fred HANA of Madison.
