JESSIE MAE MYERS GOODSPEED

Funeral services for Jessie Mae GOODSPEED, 100, of Neligh, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 1991, at the United Methodist Church in Neligh. Rev. Gary MAIN officiated with arrangements by Hoepfinger-Beyer Funeral Home in Neligh. Interment was at the Oakdale Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dan PECK, Roland JOHNSON, Henry SCHUMACHER, Melvin MARSH, Arvin ANSON, and Andy BEYER. Mrs GOODSPEED died Monday, July 8, at the Neligh Nursing Center. She was born June 7, 1891, near David City, the daughter of Joseph and Emma (BLAIR) MYERS. She moved from the David City area when she was a child to the Chambers area where her family homesteaded. She married Perle GOODSPEED on September 23, 1908 in Neligh. They farmed near Chambers, Plainview and Oakdale. He died in 1961. She later moved to Neligh. She had been a resident at the Neligh Nursing Center since 1983. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and its women’s groups. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs Ruby FITCH of Plainview, one grandson, and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and two sisters.

PEARL B. GOODSPEED

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. I. Lester HART at the Oakdale Methodist Church March 27 at 10:30 a.m. for Pearl B. GOODSPEED. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Pearl B. GOODSPEED was born January 15, 1882 at Hawkeye, Iowa to Mr and Mrs Eugene GOODSPEED and died March 24, 1961 at the age of 79 years, 2 months and 8 days. He came to Antelope County with his parents at the age of three years. He lived his life in the country with the exception of 10 years when he lived near Chambers. He farmed in the Crawford Valley and Dutch Hollow communities many years. On September 23, 1908 he was married to Jessie MYERS of Chambers. One daughter was born to the couple. Mr GOODSPEED suffered a severe heart attack 17 years ago, after which he retired from farming and moved to Oakdale where he made his home for the rest of his life. He was member of the Oakdale Methodist Church. Survivors are his wife, daughter, Mrs Ruby JOHANSEN of Plainview, one grandson, Darrell JOHANSEN of Plainview, one great grandson, Johnny JOHANSEN of Plainview, one sister, Miss Viola GOODSPEED of Scottsbluff, and many other relatives.
