KATHERIN ELLEN LAWTON GOVE

Mrs. H. N. GOVE, 88, died at her home here at 10:15 Friday evening. She had been an invalid for many years. Mrs. GOVE came to Oakdale in 1873 and her death adds another loss to the dwindling ranks of the Oakdale pioneers. Katherin Ellen LAWTON was born November 11, 1854, at Columbus, Indiana. At the age of ten she moved with her parents to St. Louis, Missouri, where they resided until she was eighteen, coming to Oakdale from St. Louis in 1873. She was united in marriage to Horace N. GOVE on November 11, 1874, in Oakdale. Her husband preceded her in death in February, 1930. To this union one daughter, Gertrude GOVE, was born, who, with many friends remain to mourn her passing. She had been a member of the Methodist church many years and remained a devoted Christian until her death, which occurred on October 23, 1942. Her age at the time of her death was eighty-seven years, eleven months and twelve days. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. H. G. LANGLEY delivering the sermon. Burial was made in the Oakdale cemetery.
