BOYD T. HECKLER

 

Boyd HECKLER, 51, formerly of Neligh, died Friday, March 1, 1991, at a Midland, Texas, hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday March 5, at 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Neligh. Rev. Gary MAIN officiated. Burial was at the Oakdale Cemetery with military rights conducted by a American Legion Post 172 and the VFW Post 5287 of Neligh. Boyd T. HECKLER, son of William and Eunice (CLAXTON) HECKLER, was born February 20, 1940 at Olney, Illinois. He attended Bridgeport township school at Bridgeport, Illinois. He was married to Judy Y YATES at Odessa, Texas, on December 17, 1958. He served fourteen years in the U.S. armed forces and was a veteran of the Korean war, the Berlin wall conflict and the Vietnam war. HECKLER was assistant police chief in Neligh for three years. He had been employed for the past six years as a yard mechanic for well drilling by Western Co. of Odessa, Texas. HECKLER was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister and a grandson. Survivors include his wife, Judy, three daughters, Jonny HOEFER Neligh, Kimberly HECKLER of Lincoln and Melody SEIER of Pilger; a son, Boyd Jr., of Rock Springs, Wyoming; step-mother Sally HECKLER of Lawrenceville, Illinois; five brothers, William of Dumas, Texas, Gerald of Anna, Illinois, Robert of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Glen of Brownsburg, Indiana; five sisters, LuVaughn MONTONEY of Olney, Illinois, Mary GREEN of Palestine, Illinois, Lavada SMITH of West Salem, Illinois, Lois SUTTON of Paris, Illinois, and Jeanette OLIVER of Vincennes, Indiana; a step-sister, Barbara SHAW of Chicago, Illinois, a step-brother, Terry MILES of Vincennes, Indiana and eight grandchildren.
