Obituary-The Oakdale Sentinel-April 18, 1903

DANIEL HUFFMAN

Abridged: Daniel HUFFMAN was born August 29, 1848 in Green County, Wisconsin and died at his home in Oakdale, April 15, 1903, aged 54 years, 7 months and 17 days. In December 1868 he was married to Miss Elizabeth BLUNT. To their union, 14 children were born, twelve living, 8 boys and 4 girls. He moved to Antelope County in 1880. He was a member of the United Brethren Church. Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Methodist Episcopal Church and the remains were interred in the Oakdale Cemetery.

Elizabeth (BRUNT) HUFFMAN

Elizabeth Brunt was born in Greene County, WI, December 6, 1848 and died at her home at Windsor, California, Jun 18, 1919. She was married to Daniel Huffman, December 26, 1865 at Monroe, WI. To this union were born fourteen children, Samantha of Davis, Canada, Hezekiah, Jake, Roscoe, Perry, Daniel and William of California, Minnie Burkhead of Elgin, Dolly Banta of Royal, Uel of Oakdale and Ella Morris of Boone, Iowa, two having died in infancy and Herbert of Portland, Oregon, now deceased. Her husband preceded her to the better land sixteen years ago. She leaves to mourn her departure thirty-five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was a member of the U B Church for many years always strong to do the will of her Master. She was a devoted wife and mother and will be greatly missed by all who were dear to her. The body of Mrs Huffman arrived from California on No. 5 Sunday night accompanied by a son and daughter, Jake Huffman of Windsor, CA and Mrs Burkhead of Elgin, Nebraska who had gone to her mother to care for her some six weeks ago. Other members of the family in attendance at the funeral were Mrs James Morris of Boone, Iowa, Mrs Alfred Banta of Royal, Nebraska and Uel Huffman of Oakdale. Mr and Mrs Huffman came to Nebraska from Iowa thirty-nine years ago, locating on a homestead six miles south of Oakdale where they lived about twenty-seven years. About a year ago Mrs Huffman went to California in the hope of regaining her health, but disease had fixed itself so firmly on the body that nothing could be done for her relief. The body was interred in the Oakdale Cemetery June 23. The Rev. Mr W. C. Clifton, pastor of Park Center Congregational Church near Elgin and who buried the husband some sixteen years ago, made the funeral address, Rev. C. L. Myers, D. D, pastor of the Methodist church, where the funeral was held, assisting.
