EMERSON E HUNT

Funeral services were held for Reverend Emerson E HUNT, 65, at the Methodist Church Sunday afternoon with burial in the Oakdale Cemetery. Rev. HUNT was well known in this vicinity years ago, his parents residing north of Tilden. He also preached at Elgin at a schoolhouse in the Cedar Creek neighborhood. For many years Rev. HUNT made his home in South Dakota, going to Kansas about six years ago. He is survived by his wife of Wichita, Kansas, a daughter, Mrs Rachel BUNT of Kimball, SD, a son at St Paul, MN and a son in South Dakota. The two sons were unable to be present at the funeral. Reverend HUNT died February 13, 1936. The body was moved to Mitchell, South Dakota in 1950.

JOHN HUNT

Abridged: John Hunt, son of William HUNT and Rachael HUNT, was born in Gallia County, Ohio, May 31, 1844, and died at his home in Meadow Grove, Nebraska, April 5, 1921, at the age of 76 years, ten months and 4 days. He grew to manhood, married and made his home in the neighborhood where he was born. On November 29, 1862, he was united in marrage to Miss Martha A. WRIGHT and to them eleven children were born: Samuel E. HUNT of San Francisco, California.; Lester N. HUNT of Harvard, Nebraska; Frankie E. HUNT died in early childhood; Emerson E. HUNT of Mitchell, South Dakota; Mrs. Luella MYERS of Oakdale; Calvin M. HUNT, Mrs. Edna KIBLER, Clinton LeRoy HUNT, and Clyde E. HUNT all of Meadow Grove, Nebraska.

When a young man, the deceased enlisted in Co. C, 173d Ohio Infantry, serving as corporal until the end of the Civil War. In 1871 the deceased brought his family to Nebraska, locating on Government land in Elm township, Antelope County. He was a charter member of the General Harvey Post 182, G.A.R. of Tilden and a 35 year member of the Tilden IOOF. More that fifty members of the lodge attended the funeral and performed the last service of the brotherhood at the side of his grave in the Oakdale Cemetery.

Martha A (WRIGHT) HUNT

After being in poor health for several years Mrs John Hunt died last Wednesday, July 13, 1921, at her home in Meadow Grove. Burial was made in the Oakdale Cemetery beside the remains of her husband who passed away April 5, last. Martha A Wright was born in Gallis County, Ohio, December 30, 1840. She received a common school education and taught several terms of school. On November 29, 1862 she was united in marriage to John Hunt and in April 1871 came to Antelope County where she lived until a few years ago. She was a life long member of the M. E. Church and was faithful to every obligation growing out of such membership. She was associated with the classes at Elm Grove, Oakdale, Tilden and Meadow Grove as the organization and classification of the pioneer church were arranged. She was loved by near friends and esteemed by a wide circle of acquaintances. To her home and family she gave unselfishly of service and devotion. She was the mother of eleven children—Anzonetta Mills of North Plate, Nebraska, Samuel E Hunt of San Mateo, California, Lester E Hunt of Harvard, Nebraska, Frank E Hunt, deceased, Emerson E. Hunt of Mitchell, SD, Luelia Myers of Oakdale, Jennie Birmieir of Osmond, Nebraska, Calvin M Hunt, LeRoy Hunt, Clyde Hunt, Mrs J H Kibbler, all of Meadow Grove, Nebraska. One brother and three sisters also survive—Lafayette Wright of Yakima, WA, Luella Keller of Pineville, W.Va., Emily Malzacher of Oakdale, Nebraska.
