AMANDA IVES

Amanda IVES died suddenly of dropsey at the home of her daughter in Wakefield last Tuesday, August 3, 1897. The remains were brought to town and the funeral took place yesterday, August 6 from the Methodist Episcopal Church. The deceased was in her eightieth year.

DONOVAN PIERRE IVES

Donovan Pierre IVES was born at Oakdale, Nebraska, August 9, 1929, and passed away November 22, 1938, at the age of nine years, three months and thirteen days. His death followed a brief illness of yellow jaundice with liver complications. Donovan was a member of the Presbyterian Sunday School and was in the fourth grade of the public schools. Donnie, as he was known by his many friends, was a willing little helper and loyal playmate. His quiet little manner and good nature were recognized by all. He will be missed by many friends both young and old. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia SHAIN-IVES, on June 19, 1935. All Donnie’s life was spent in the home of his grandmother, Mrs. Hattie SHAIN, and she lovingly cared for him until his death. He is survived by his grandmother, Mrs Hattie SHAIN, an aunt, Mrs Doris LANPHERE of Omaha, his father, Merle IVES of Redding, California, and uncles, Dewey IVES and Richard SHAIN of Oakdale. Many other relatives and friends also survive him. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Wm. A. SAUER, pastor of the United Brethren church, at the Methodist church Friday afternoon. Burial was made in the Oakdale cemetery.

GENEVIEVE LOIS IVES

Abridged: Genevieve Lois Ives was born at Oakdale, Nebraska, March 14, 1918. She passed away at the Lutheran Hospital at Norfolk on Sunday, September 14, 1930, at the age of 12 years and six months. She leaves behind to remember her loving deeds and pleasant smile, a father, mother, one sister, Theda, two grandmothers, three uncles, five aunts and a host of friends. Burial was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.

VIRGINIA SHAIN IVES

Abridged: Mrs Virginia Martha Adeline IVES passed away at her home early Wednesday morning, June 19, 1935. She was born in Albion, Nebraska on April 6, 1910. She had suffered from diabetes for several years, complications of which caused her death. She had been employed at the post office for about six months up to the time of being taken ill with smallpox about two months ago. When she was seven years old the family moved to Idaho. Her father died there and the family returned to Oakdale. She graduated from the Oakdale High School with the class of 1928. On August 11, 1928 she married Merle IVES. She is survived by her son, Donovan, six; her mother, Mrs Hattie SHAIN and one sister, Mrs Doris LANPHERE of Omaha and a brother, Richard. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday afternoon at the United Brethren Church. Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery.
