Elizabeth JAMES

Abridged: Elizabeth James was born in South Wales, April 13, 1842. Her mother died when she was quite young and left her to be cared for by an uncle. They came to America in 1849 and made their home for a number of years in the town of Hazelton, Pennsylvania. In 1866 she was married to John James and to this union were born three children, one son and two daughters. The family moved to Angus, Iowa in 1882 and six years later moved to Nebraska and made their home ten miles south of Oakdale. In 1909 she moved to Amistad, New Mexico. She was a constant sufferer of rheumatism and with other complications died on March 6, 1913. She is survived by one son and one daughter, Edward James of Amistad and Leah Comstock of Petersburg, Virginia. The remains were brought to Oakdale and funeral services were held at the U B Church Monday afternoon. Burial was made in the Oakdale Cemetery beside the remains of her husband who death occurred in 1894.
