The infant child of Peter JENSEN, living south of town, died Thursday, January 9, 1908 and was buried Saturday in the Oakdale Cemetery.

ANNA CHRISTIANA FULMER JENSEN

Anna Christiana FULMER was born in Christenfelt, Denmark, July 9, 1864. She came to the United States in 1892 to Iowa. She then came to Antelope County in 1896, residing on a farm south of Oakdale. Mrs JENSEN died on July 11, 1900, leaving a husband and five children. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. LEIDY at the home. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery.

ARTHUR M JENSEN

Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 25, 1990, at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Oakdale for Arthur M. JENSEN, who died on August 22, 1990. Rev. Gary MAIN officiated. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Todd Freeman, Willard Freeman Jr, Jim HAWKINS, Dan GREENFIELD, David RODER, Michael RODER, and Tim ELLIS. Honorary pallbearers were Harry HEATH, Henry GRASSHORN, Harold KLAWITTER, Ron BETIN, Jerry LEWIS, and Paul ABLER. Mr. JENSEN, the son of Arthur and Georgiana (CHASE) JENSEN, was gorn at Waterloo on January 15, 1910. He grew up and attended school in Oakdale. He was married to Helen NELSON, who died in 1943. In 1951 he married Myrtle RODER. He farmed in the Oakdale and Meadow Grove communities before moving to rural Norfolk in 1955. He worked in the APCO station in Norfolk and did lawn care work. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Neligh. Survivors include his wife, one son, Robert JENSEN of Sherman, Texas, one step-son, Derald RODER of McCool Junction, two daughters, Mrs Jim (Joan) KUCERA of Brighton, Colorado and Mrs Willard (Deloris) FREEMAN of Norfolk, one step-daughter, Mrs Howard (Lavonne) ELLIS of Omaha, two half-brothers, Lyle SIMMONS of Fayetteville, Arkansas and John SIMMONS of Oakdale, one siter, Vivian MELCHER of Neligh, 26 grandchildren, and 43 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, one step-son, Donald RODER, one daughter, Marjorie BERGAN, one brother, Robert and two grandchildren.

FRANK C. JENSEN

Funeral services for Frank C. JENSEN, 83, of Norfolk, formerly of Oakdale, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 20 at the Church of Christ in Neligh with Pastor Ronald MORTENSEN and Pastor Ray MATTESON officiating. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred NELSON, John SIMMONS, Howard EARLING, Dwayne JOHNSON, Orville LIMBO and Dennis HUGHES. Frank C. JENSEN, son of Peter and Jensenia ANDERSEN JENSEN, was born August 12, 1902 south of Oakdale and died June 17, 1986 at a Norfolk hospital. He attended rural schools. On March 19, 1924, he married Ruth B. MUSSER at the home of her parents in the Closter community. This couple farmed south of Oakdale until retiring to Norfolk in October 1963. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John; and five sisters, Ida LINNAUS, Clara MURPHY, Christine DRAKE, Alida BURKHEAD and Agnes JENSEN in fancy. Survivors include his wife of Norfolk; one daughter, Mrs Herb (Lavonne) NEWHARD of Norfolk; one brother, James JENSEN of Wheatland, North Dakota; one grandson, one granddaughter and three great granddaughters.

HELEN ANNA NELSON JENSEN

Mrs. Arthur JENSEN, 36, died suddenly Sunday at a Norfolk hospital. Mrs. Jensen had undergone a major operation at the hospital about ten days before and Sunday was preparing to leave, her husband having arrived to take her home, when she died in a few minutes as the result of a blood clot.

Funeral services were conducted by the United Brethren minister, Rev. Arthur RONEY, at the Methodist church here Wednesday afternoon. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Helen Anna NELSON was born in the Cedar Creek neighborhood near Oakdale, Nebraska, on June 9, 1907, and departed from this lie at Norfolk hospital on August 8, 1943, at the age of thirty-six years, one month and twenty-nine days. All her life was spent around Oakdale with exception of five years spent south of Clearwater. Her mother preceded her in death on March 31, 1926 and one sister preceded her in death June 16, 1936. She as baptized in the Methodist Church on Cedar Creek and united with the Star United Brethren church in 1928 to which she held her membership as a faithful member until death. She was united in marriage to Arthur Max JENSEN on March 13, 1929. To this union were born five children, one child dying in infancy. Mrs. JENSEN leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, one son, Robert Arthur JENSEN, and three daughters, Marjorie Maxine JENSEN, 13, Deloris Vivian JENSEN, 10, Joan Helen JENSEN, her father and stepmother Mr. & Mrs. John NELSON, 3 brothers, Fred NELSON, Star community, Oakdale, Herman NELSON, Cloister, and Rollin NELSON, in the armed forces in North Africa; half-sister Belva NELSON, at home and stepbrother James NELSON, U.S. Air Corps, stepsister, Mrs. Beverly VAUGHN, Los Angeles, Ca.; many other relatives and a host of friends.

JENSINA MARIE INGEBORG ANDERSEN JENSEN

Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 22, for Mrs Peter JENSEN, 86, at the Methodist Church in Oakdale with Rev. A. R. MURDOCH of the Evangelical United Brethren Church in charge. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Mrs JENSEN died June 20, 1950, in a Norfolk Hospital after being bedfast for 14 months. Jensina Marie Ingeborg ANDERSEN was born at Randers, Denmark, May 29, 1864, the daughter of Mr and Mrs Peter ANDERSEN. She was the last survivor of their children. In the spring of 1887 she came to America and was married to Peter JENSEN at Fremont, September 16, 1887. They resided in Douglas County until 1899, when they moved to the Star community in Antelope County. They resided there until 1919, after which they lived in or near Oakdale. Mr JENSEN died June 2, 1938. Two daughters also preceded Mrs JENSEN in death. Mrs Alida JENSEN BURKHEAD, who died on May 28, 1912 and Agnes, who died in infancy in 1908. Six children survive Mrs JENSEN. They are: Mrs Christine DRAKE, Omaha; Mrs Clara MURPHY, Twin Falls, Idaho; James, Wheatland, North Dakota; and Mrs Ida LINNAUS and John and Frank JENSEN all of Oakdale. Fourteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also survive. Mrs JENSEN was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Denmark and joined the Star United Brethren Church about 1909, to which she belonged until her death.

MYRTLE M DENSEN JENSEN

Services for Myrtle M JENSEN, 84, Norfolk will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Oakdale. The Rev. Gary MAIN will officiate with burial in the Oakdale Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Tuesday at Marshall-Harlan Funeral Home in Tilden. She died Sunday, January 2, 1993 at Heritage of Bel Air in Norfolk. She was born September 3, 1909 at Meadow Grove to Charles and Vella (PETERSEN) DENSEN. She attended school at Brunswick. She married Frank RODER July 15, 1928. They farmed near Tilden and Closter until moving to Tilden. She was employed by the Tilden Post Office. In 1951, she married Arthur JENSEN. They farmed near Tilden and Meadow Grove until moving to Norfolk in 1955. She was employed by a bakery in downtown Norfolk and then at Sunset Plaza. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Norfolk. Survivors include stepson, Robert JENSEN of Sherman, Texas, stepdaughters, Mrs Jim (Joan) KUCERA of Sterling, Colorado, and Mrs Willard (Delores) FREEMAN of Norfolk, brother, John DENSEN of Plainview, 24 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, two sons, one daughter, one brother and two great grandchildren.


Abridged Obituary - The Oakdale Sentinel June 9, 1938

PETER JENSEN

Peter JENSEN was born in Veddum, Denmark, September 16, 1864, and passed away at a Norfolk hospital June 2, 1938 at the age of seventy-three years, eight months and seventeen days. Although his final illness was of about three weeks duration, he had been an invalid since suffering a paralytic stroke six years ago. At the age of 19 he immigrated to America and immediately went to Omaha where he worked in various occupations until his marriage to Jensena ANDERSON on his birthday, September 16, 1887. Following their marriage they farmed in the eastern part of the state until they moved to Antelope County in 1889. They resided in the Star community until 1919 when they moved to town. Their residence in Oakdale has been continuous with the exception of a few years spent on a farm with their son, John. Surviving are his wife Jensena ANDERSON, sons James JENSEN of Alice, North Dakota, John JENSEN of Oakdale, Frank JENSEN of Bliss, Nebraska; daughters Mrs. Theo. DRAKE, Mrs. Fred LINNAUS, Mrs. James MURPHY of Oakdale. Two daughters preceded him in death. A sister, Mrs. S. F. CHRISTIANSEN of Omaha, two sisters and two brothers in Denmark, 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the Methodist Church with burial following in the Oakdale Cemetery.

PETER JENSEN

Peter JENSEN was born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, June 10, 1852 and died at his home in Dutch Hollow, October 28, 1935. He came to America when a young man, making his home for a time at Clinton, Iowa, at which place he married Anna K FOLMER. To this union eight children were born. Mr JENSEN came to Oakdale in 1894. In 1902 his wife died. Later he married Wolberg JENSEN and to this union were born eight children. Most of the years in Nebraska were spent on a farm north of Tilden and three years ago the family moved to the Dutch Hollow community. He is survived by his wife and twelve children. Funeral services were held last Thursday at the Neligh Methodist Church with G. B. DUNNING in charge. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery.

WOLBERG CHRISTIANA KATINKA JENSEN

Wolberg Christiana Katinka JENSEN was born in Assens, Denmark, October 27, 1882 and died December 18, 1935 at the home of her son in Neligh. She had been in fairly good health until about a week before her death. She came with her parents to Lincoln in 1883 and later to Scribner and Tilden. In 1902 she married Peter JENSEN who preceded her in death about two months ago. She is survived by eight children and four stepchildren, her mother, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ in Neligh Saturday afternoon with burial in the Oakdale Cemetery.
