FRED C. MAUCH

Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Church in Oakdale Thursday at 2 p.m. for Fred C MAUCH of Oaldale with the Rev. I. Lester HART of Tilden in charge, assisted by the Rev. Leo BEST of Norfolk. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Fred C. MAUCH was born in 1885 in Borne, Switzerland to Mr and Mrs John MAUCH and died at the Tilden hospital, December 27, 1960, at the age of 75 years following a lengthy illness. He came to the United States with his parents, and joined relatives who settle at Bassett in April, 1882. He worked on ranches until he was 21 years of age when he took a praireland homestead in Rock County. On April 28, 1914 he was married to Florence STEWART at Newport. Two daughters were born to this union. The couple’s first home was at Spokane, Washington, but after 18 months they returned to Bassett, later living at Atkinson and Ainsworth on ranches. In 1937 they moved to Burwell where they owned and operated a Gamble store for 16 years. Six years ago the Mauchs retired and moved to Oakdale where he lived the rest of his life. Survivors are his wife, two daughters, Mrs Ruth FRIED of Butte and Mrs Pearl YOUNG of Minneapolis, eight grandchildren and one sister. Pallbearers were Elmer HOLMES, Arnold GABELMAN, Ivan KINNAN, Bruno VOLLBRECHT, John WILKINSON, and Ralph KINNAN.
