CAROLINE THERESE STEFFINS MAY

Caroline Therese STEFFINS was born in Jo Davies County, Illinois, October 16, 1869 and departed this life March 6, 1923, being aged 56 years, 4 months and 2 days. The deceased came to Antelope County with her parents at the age of 12 years, locating on a homestead north of Neligh. When 23 years of age she was united in marriage to Frederick May, September 29, 1889 and soon afterward located on a farm southwest of Oakdale where she lived until the time of her death. Mr MAY died January 24, 1908. To them were born nine children, seven of whom survive. Mrs MAY was a faithful and consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Just as often as was possible she was at the services of the Church and its different branches. Everyone counted on Mrs MAY being present and there were very few times when they were disappointed. She was a member of the Woman’s Home Missionary Society and was very much interested in the work of this organization. The immediate members of the family are three daughters, Emma, Lucinda, Mabel, and four sons, William, Elmer, Carl, and Glen. There are three sisters, Mrs Martha LYONS of Illinois, Mrs Eliza DREDGE of Osmond, NE and Mrs Adelade GEORGE of Port Orchard, Washington, and one brother, George STEFFINS of Illinois. It is with sorrow that we lay this body to rest in our beautiful Oakdale Cemetery beside her husband, but we wait in hope of the promised resurrection.
