Obituary-The Oakdale Sentinel-December 13, 1918

ANNA MANTOR MINTON

Abridged: Anna MANTOR was born near Sheldon, Iroquois County, NH, December 31, 1855, where she spent her early years. She was educated in the Sheldon high school and afterward much of her time was spent with her sister, Mrs Cornelia WESTON, at Wellington, NH. On April 6, 1880 she was married to Dr. E. W. MINTON at her home in Shelton. The resided in Wellington until 1885 when they removed to Oakdale, Nebraska in March of that year. Anna has resided here continually until her death on December 7, 1918. Two sons and three daughters were born to Mr and Mrs MINTON, one daughter dying in infancy. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, Dr. E. W. MINTON, her sons, Robert C of Oakdale, E. Lynn of Omaha, her daughters, Mrs C. E. BOLZELL of Stanton, Mrs T. M. PRINGLE of Cedar Falls, Iowa, five little granddaughters and one grandson, one sister, Dr Emma M MOORE of Chicago and one brother, Dr C. MANTOR of Nevada. Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon, December 9 and interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.

Edward Willison MINTON

Abridged: Edward Willison Minton was born at Castalian Springs, Sumner County Tennessee, May 3, 1853 and died at Oakdale, Nebraska May 30, 1919. He was the son of Robert Buchan and Katherine Barr Minton, the former a native of Morris Plains, NJ and the latter a native of Courtland, AL. When he was two years old, the family moved to Wood County, Ohio. In 1861, they moved to Carlinville, IL. He graduated from Blackburn College in 1872 followed this with a five month term of school at Palmyra, IL. He entered the office of Drs. J. P. and L. P. Mathews at Carlinville as a medical student. He later attended Rush Medical College, from which he was graduated on February 15, 1876. On April 6, 1880 he was united in marriage to Anna Mantor of Sheldon, IL and to them was born five children, two sons and three daughters. One daughter died in infancy, one son, Robert, died December 14, 1918 and Mrs Minton passed away on December 7, 1918. The surviving children are Mrs C. E. Bolzell of Stanton, E. L. Minton of Omaha and Mrs T. M Pringle of this city. Dr Minton arrived in Oakdale on March 2, 1885. He engaged in the practice of his profession and continued in the work up to the time of his death. Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon. Rev. Sidney K Harris, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, gave the reading. Burial was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.

Robert Childs MINTON

Robert Childs Minton, son of E. W. and Anna M Minton, was born in Wellington, IL, May 31, 1881 and came with his parents to Oakdale in 1885, where he resided continuously until his death on December 14, 1918. He was educated in the Oakdale schools and upon leaving school entered upon a life of activity from which he never departed. He was industrious and was never without employment and his example of thrift and manly virtues is worthy of emulation. He was widely known and high esteemed. On October 8, 1917 the deceased was married to Miss Rosa Wapelhorst of Scribner and began wedded life under the most auspicious conditions. He had just completed a beautiful new home, which he had occupied since September. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the old home, conducted by Dr C. L. Myers and interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery beside his mother who passed away just one week before.
