Obituary-The Oakdale Sentinel-May 1899

ALICE MONTGOMERY

Alice MONTGOMERY, aged 13 years, daughter of William C MONTGOMERY, living about three miles south west of Oakdale, died on Tuesday, April 25, 1899, of trichinosis. The funeral was held on Wednesday and burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery.


 

Obituary-The Neligh News-March 3, 1960

CHESTER MONTGOMERY

Services were held at the Methodist Church in Oakdale Saturday for Chester MONTGOMERY, 83, who died in his room at the Oakdale hotel on Wednesday, February 24, 1960. MONTGOMERY had lived in the hotel for several years and was found there by Clarence HENDERSON who came to see how he was after MONTGOMERY had told him he wasn’t feeling well. The Rev. I. Lester HART officiated at the services and burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Music was furnished by Mrs Ralph HUNTER, Mrs Clement COWIN, and Mrs Raymond CROSIER. Pallbearers were Ivan KINNAN, Donald OFE, Merle BRINK, Eugene CARNEY, William CORNETT and Russell MCINTYRE. He was born near Tilden, April 4, 1876, the son of Mr and Mrs William MONTGOMERY and spent most of his life in the Oakdale community. He never married. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs Violet WINLAND of Gillette, Wyoming, and Mrs Phoebe STEARNS of Jefferson, Oregon, two brothers, Guy of Gillette and Elwin of Sand Point, Idaho.

MRS WILLIAM MONTGOMERY

Died on Wednesday morning, March 17, 1897, Mrs William MONTGOMERY, at her home on Cedar Creek about 3 miles from Oakdale. The remains were interred in the Oakdale Cemetery on Thursday afternoon. The funeral services were held in the Baptist Church with the auspices of the Free Methodist Church. She leaves several children, one a baby only a few days old.
