Mrs. Mary J. MORSE Laid To Rest On Wednesday

Funeral services were held at the Barnum Home for Funerals in Neligh a 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, October 1, for Mrs. Mary J. Morse, who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. O. Marshall, on Tuesday. Rev. Dawson J. Park was in charge of the service. Burial was in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mary Jane Croston was born Mar 27, 1864 at Cascade, Iowa, and departed this life September 29, 1947 at the age of 83 years, 6 months and 2 days. She was united in marriage to Jerome B. Morse on October 12, 1914 at Orange City, Iowa. He preceded her in death, June 7, 1925. She is survived by an only daughter, Mrs. C. O. Marshall of Neligh, with whom she has made her home: six grandchildren, Leona Clark of Omaha; Dorothy Coonrod of Voleanovelle, Calif., and Joe, Donald, Lois and Jerry Marshall of Neligh; and three great granddaughters.

WAYNE A MORSE

Funeral services for Wayne A. MORSE 71, of Neligh were held Monday, March 2, 1992 at the United Methodist Church in Neligh. Rev. Gary MAIN officiated. Pallbearers were Garry LISEC, Marvin LAMTON, Rex MORSE, Steve MORSE, Mark MORSE, and Norbert BERENDSEN. Honorary pallbearers were Dale ELI, Wilmer GRAN and Gerald DUNHAM. He died on Thursday, February 27, 1992 at Antelope Memorial Hospital. He was born December 8, 1920, the son of Alphioous Bradbery and Sarah (RUTHERFORD) MORSE at Howard, Kansas. He graduated from high school with the class of 1938 in Howard. He served in the United States Navy from December 8, 1941 to December 14, 1946 during World War II. He received a Letter of Commendation from the Commander of Destroyers Eighth Fleet for display of skill and courage on the night of February 17, 1945. He was married to Eloida E. WARE on June 22, 1944 at Howard, Kansas. They lived in Minatare, where he was employed at a meat packing plant before becoming employed by Comsumers Public Power. He traveled across the state as a lineman until 1951. They made their home in Gordon before moving to Rushville where he was the local superintendent. In 1961, they moved to Neligh where he was the lineman foreman until retiring from Nebraska Public Power District on December 31, 1985 after 18 years of service. Survivors include his wife of Neligh, three daughters, Mrs Ron (Diana) WEBER of Tilden, Mrs Vito (Carolyn) CAPONE of Aurora, Colorado, and Mrs Steve (Wanda) CORNETT of Oakdale, two brothers, Clyde MORSE of Brookfield, Missouri and Ivan MORSE of Elk City, Kansas, four sisters, Mrs Harold (Gertrude) COMSTOCK and Mrs Marcel (Dora) LAMPTON, both of Wichita, Kansas, and Imogene MCFADDEN of Paris, Texas, three grandchildren, and six step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Sarah, one sister, Marjorie HORN and one granddaughter, Danielle CORNETT.
