DELLA JANE BRIDGES MUSSER

Mrs Della Jane MUSSER, 77, of Oakdale, died Tuesday, May 29, 1962, at the Tilden hospital. Services were held at the Oakdale Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Friday, June 1 with the Rev. Willis R. TAPLIN officiating. Mrs Gallis R. MARKS of Pierce sang "Rock of Ages" and "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder", with Mrs Raymond CROSIER at the organ. Pallbearers were Fred LINNAUS, Gwyn WINGATE, Robert WINGATE, Earl MCNARE, Bud OFE, and Clarence SHERMAN. Della Jane MUSSER was born May 2, 1885 to Murdock and Mary BRIDGES at Rural Retreat, Virginia and died at the Tilden Hospital. On October 6, 1904 she was married to Wess Charles MUSSER. To this union three sons and two daughters were born. She made her home in Oakdale, where she became a member of the Nazarene Church. She was preceded in death by her husband and one son, Marion Robert who died in infancy. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs Frank JENSEN of Oakdale and Mrs Glen WHITWER of Norfolk, two sons, Roy and Elmer of Oakdale, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

DUANE MUSSER

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 13, 2 p.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church at Norfolk and burial in the Oakdale Cemetery for Duane MUSSER, 29, of Norfolk who died Monday, February 10, 1964, in a Norfolk Hospital. Mr MUSSER who had been in poor health for some time was employed as a aide at the Norfolk State Hospital. He is survived by his widow, Marilyn, and his parents, Mr and Mrs Roy MUSSER of Oakdale.

ELMER WESLEY MUSSER

Funeral services for Elmer W MUSSER, 79, of Oakdale, were held Saturday, October 31, at the United Methodist Church in Oakdale. The Rev. Carol JAMES officiated. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery under the direction of Huffman’s Brooks Chapel of Elgin. Pallbearers were Bryan BUSTEED, Chris BLASER, Jonathan MUSSER, John GLADEM, Brandon KEE and Tim SPRINGER. Elmer Wesley MUSSER, son of Charles W and Della BRIDGES MUSSER, was born May 20, 1919, in Madison County. He grew up in the Closter and Star communities south of Oakdale and graduated from Oakdale High School in 1938. During World War II, MUSSER served from September 1942 until December 1945 in the U. S. Navy. He entered boot camp at Great Lakes, IL and served at Port Angles, WA and Klamath Falls, OR and aboard ship at Hawaii and Okinawa. On May 6, 1944, he married Elizabeth Carrie CHRISTENSEN at Klamath Falls. The couple made their home on a farm south of Oakdale for the past 46 years. Mr. MUSSER was a farmer involved in raising livestock. He was a long-time member of the American Quarterhorse Association and was active in the production of the Antelope County Fair. Mr. MUSSER died Wednesday, October 28, 1998, at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, one in infancy and Roy MUSSER. Survivors include his wife, a son and his wife, Dr Wesley and Lynn MUSSER of Laurel, MD, two daughters, Linda MUSSER of Columbus and Mrs. Mike (Cheri) BLOCHER of Albion; three grandchildren, a great grandson, and two sisters, Ruth JESNSN of Norfolk and Gladys WHITWER of Omaha.

ROY FRANKLIN MUSSER

Funeral services for Roy F MUSSER, 74, 207 S. 17th Street, Norfolk, were conducted Monday, June 21 at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Eugene BOYE officiating. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Mrs. Marie FROHBERG was soloist, accompanied by Mrs. L F. KNUDSON, organist. Serving as pallbearers were Arthur JENSEN, Gary BROWN, John RUSINKO, Gary BUSTEED, William MAYER and Orville SHERMAN. Roy Franklin MUSSER, son of the late Charles Wesley and Della BRIDGES MUSSER, was born near Meadow Grove on February 5, 1908 and died at a Norfolk hospital at the age of 74 years on June 18, 1982. He was married to Belva Celeste BROWN on July 7, 1928 at Yankton, SD. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and a son, Duane. Survivors include his wife, Belva of Norfolk, one brother, Elmer of Oakdale, two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Ruth) JENSEN of Oakdale and Mrs. Glen (Gladys) WHITWER of Norfolk, and several nieces and nephews.
