CARROLL LESLIE NEWBURN

Services for Carroll Leslie NEWBURN, 62, Neligh, were held October 23, 1986 at the First Congregational Church. The Rev. Bryce HECHT officiated. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. He died October 21, 1986 at Antelope Memorial Hospital at Neligh. He was born July 27, 1924, on the farm of his grandparents, Kit and Martha CARSON, west of Elgin. He was the son of Leslie and Marjorie (EDWARDS) NEWBURN. He was baptized at Park Center Congregational Church west of Elgin. He began his schooling at the Sweden Country School and completed his education at the Elgin Public High School graduating in 1943. While growing up he was an active 4-H member. After graduation he began a full time job as a mechanic for a John Deere dealership and had worked for several dealerships from 1939-1981. He and Donna Mae STROPE were married April 17, 1960, at Venus Wesleyan Methodist Church. They resided at Oakdale until October 1960 and then moved to Neligh. From 1972-83 they resided at Orchard, Ainsworth and O’Neill. They moved back to Neligh in 1983, where they resided since. Because of failing health he stayed at the Heritage Village at Tilden from June to October. He was a member of First Congregational Church at Neligh. Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Mrs Bradley (Joann) HANSON of South Sioux City, a grandson, Patrick NEWBURN, of South Sioux City, a half-sister, Mrs Don (Martha) PRUDEN of St Edward, and two half-brothers, Lewis HOLCOMB of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Robert HOLCOMB of Norfolk. He was preceded in death by his parents.
