ELIAS L NEY

E. L. NEY, a resident of Oakdale for fifty years, died Sunday afternoon after a brief illness. Elias L NEY was born in Burkes County, PA on July 20, 1846 and died at this home in Oakdale, January 27, 1929. He was one of the pioneer citizens of Oakdale, having come her in May 1879. On March 25, 1887 he was united in marriage to Mrs Matilda LAWSON. For over fifty years he has been a member in good standing of Symmetry Lodge NO. 103, I.O.O.F of Hamburg, PA. He also was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He leaves to mourn him, his wife, Matilda, one brother, John L NEY of Shattlesville, PA and a number of nieces and nephews; also a step-daughter, Mrs T. C. PARKER of Oakdale and granddaughters, Mrs R. A. HANIKA of Shurbert and Mrs V. H. VAN KIRK of Scottsbluff. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon and interment was in the Oakdale Cemetery.

MARTHA MATHILDA LINDQUIST NEY

Abridged: Martha Mathilda LINDQUIST was born July 26, 1845 on a farm not far from Stockholm, Sweden and departed this life at her home in Oakdale on August 31, 1932. She grew to young womanhood at her parent’s farm home and began working in Stockholm where she met and married Andrew Berger LARSSON. To this union was born one daughter, Martha. Andrew died soon after. Mathilda came to America on July 28, 1879. She and her daughter spent one year in New York and four more in Wilkes-Barre, PA before coming to Antelope County. They resided on a homestead west of Elgin. On November 28, 1886 she moved into the house which has been her home ever since. On March 15, 1887 she was united in marriage to Elias L NEY, who preceded her in death three years ago. She leaves to mourn her, one daughter, Mrs T. C. PARKER of Oakdale, two granddaughters, Mrs R. A. HANIKA of Shubert, NE and Mrs V. H. VAN KIRK of Torrington, WY, and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the home and interment was in the Oakdale Cemetery.
