MARTHA LARSSON PARKER

Abridged: Martha LARSSON was born in Stockholm, Sweden, November 28, 1870 and passed away at her home in Oakdale, January 13, 1933. Her father died while she was a small infant and at the age of nine, she and her mother came to New York City where they spent two years. Then they moved to Pennsylvania before coming to Elgin. When she was sixteen, they moved to Oakdale. She graduated with the second class from Oakdale high school and later from Fremont Normal. On March 25, 1896 she was united in marriage to Thomas C PARKER. To this union were born two daughters, Helen and Irene. They lived on a farm south of Oakdale until her failing health caused them to leave the farm and move to Oakdale. Her mother, Mrs NEY, passed away August 31, 1932. She leaves to mourn her, her husband, two daughters, Mrs R A HANIKA of Shurbert, NE and Mrs V. H. VAN KIRK of Torrington, WY, four grandchildren and other relatives. Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church and burial was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.

Thomas Columbus PARKER

Abridged: Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Methodist Church for Thomas C Parker. Interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery. Thomas Columbus Parker was born on February 26, 1869 near Quincy, IL and passed away on October 24, 1953. He came to Nebraska with his parents in a covered wagon in the fall of 1881, crossing the Missouri River at Plattsmouth on an old steam ferry. They lived on a farm near Weeping Water for a year before they came to Antelope County and settled on a farm ten miles northeast of Neligh. Six years later they moved to the old home on the Willow. On March 25, 1896, he was united in marriage to Martha Lawson of Oakdale and to this union two daughters were born. In January 1901, Mr and Mrs Parker moved to the farm southwest of Oakdale where they resided until September 1932 when they moved into Oakdale. He was preceded in death by his wife, who passed away in January of 1933 and two grandchildren, Marion and Bobby Van Kirk. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs Helen Hanika of Falls City and Mrs Irene Van Kirk of Madison, two grandchildren, Glen Hanika of Omaha and Mrs Ramona Riley of Lincoln, one great grandson, Mike Hanika, one sister, Mrs Avah Smith of Caldwell ID, one foster brother, William Hamilton of Dewey, SD, three nieces, two nephews and a host of friends.
