Anna Marie Elizabeth PREVO

Funeral services for Mrs. Steve Prevo, 53, who died at her home Friday night after a lingering illness, were held at the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon. Rev. Robert Herin of the Evangelical United Brethren church conducted the services assisted by Rev. Dawson J. Park, Methodist minister. Burial was made in the Oakdale Cemetery. Anna Marie Elizabeth Telgren daughter of August and Albertina Telgren, was born on January 2, 1894, and passed away at her home in Oakdale, January 17, 1947, at the age of fifty-three years and fifteen days.

She was married to Stephen H. Prevo on September 18, 1913, at Madison, Nebraska, and to this union was born four children. She attended school at Star. She was an active member of the Evangelical United Brethren church and Ladies Aid until three years ago when her health failed. She leaves to mourn her death four children, Mrs. Clyde Fields, Mrs. Merle Brink, Virgil Prevo and Carol Prevo all of Oakdale; 5 grandchildren; 1 sister Mrs. Otha Drake of Oakland, Ca.; 1 brother Reuben Telgren of Oakdale; many other relatives and a host of friends. Her husband preceded her in death on January 27. 1946. She was a loving and devoted mother and sister; and will be remembered by all those who knew her as a kind friend.

Joseph PREVO

Abridged: Funeral services for Joseph PREVO who died of heart trouble were held at the Methodist Church Sunday afternoon, September 26 and burial was made in the Oakdale Cemetery. Joseph PREVO was born November 16, 1867 in Doliver County, IA and died September 23, 1937. When a lad of nine years he came to Nebraska with an uncle, Walter PREVO. He attended the United Brethren Church. He was married July 21, 1890 to Miss Lula PEETS of Oakdale. To this union were born three children. He leaves to mourn him, his wife, one son, Steve, two daughters, Mrs Maude KINNAN and Mrs Rosa MARTENS all of Oakdale, also seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a host of friends.

LULU MAE PEETS PREVO

Funeral services for Mrs Lulu PREVO were held Sunday, March 7 at 2:30 p.m. at the Oakdale Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert MIDDLETON officiating. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery with great grandsons, Arden and Paul TELGREN, Cecil FIELDS, Keith BRINK, Kerry and Jack MILLER serving as pallbearers. Mrs Lulu Mae PREVO, daughter of John and Jane PEETS was born May 3, 1872 in Clay County, Iowa and died Friday, March 5, 1965 at the age of 92 years, 10 months and 2 days. In 1880 she came to Antelope County with her parents, a brother and three sisters in a covered wagon. They settled on a timber claim in the St Clair Valley. On July 21, 1880 she was married to Joseph PREVO. They lived at Oakdale one year then moved to a farm south of Oakdale. After her husband’s death in 1937 she lived with her daughter, Mrs Rosa MARTENS, later moving to town to reside with her other daughter, Mrs Maude KINNAN. Mrs PREVO was baptized and confirmed in the United Brethren Church south of Oakdale and was a member of the Star Ladies Aid for 40 years. Survivors include her daughters, Mrs Maude KINNAN, and Mrs Rosa MARTENS, one sister, Mrs Nell GALLIMORE of Arcata, California, six grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and nine great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, five sisters and four brothers.

STEPHEN HENRY PREVO

Stephen Henry PREVO, son of Joseph and Lulu PREVO, was born in Oakdale, Nebraska, July 7, 1891, and died in a Norfolk hospital January 27, 1946, at the age of fifty-four years, six months and twenty days. He was married to Anna TELGREN on September 18, 1913, and to this union was born four children. He attended grade school at Mt. Ayre and attended Business College in Norfolk. Early in life he became affiliated with the United Brethren church at Star community and later at Oakdale. He was on the board of trustees at Oakdale. Mr. PREVO had farmed until a year ago when, due to the failure of his wife’s health, he moved to town. He was injured in an accident Sunday morning, passing away shortly after arriving at the hospital. His father preceded him in death in 1937. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, Anna; four children, Mrs. Clyde FIELDS and Mrs. Merle BRINK of Oakdale, Carol PREVO and Virgil PREVO at home; five grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Lulu PREVO of Oakdale; two sisters, Mrs. Henry MAARTENS and MRS. Ferd KINNAN, both of Oakdale; many other relatives and a host of friends. He was a kind and loving husband and father; he will be remembered as a good neighbor and friend, always willing to lend a helping hand. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon preceded by private services at the home, both conducted by Rev. Robert HERIN, pastor of the United Brethren church. Interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.

VIRGIL PREVO

Funeral services for Virgil PREVO, 70, were held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 4, 1991 at the Peace United Church of Christ in Tilden. Pastors John MANSELL and Alleen PARKER officiated. Interment was at the Oakdale Cemetery at Oakdale, with the Marshal-Harlan Funeral Home of Tilden in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers were Charles Hoffman, Boyd BATTENHORST, Ronald PREVO, Marvin WERKMEISTER, Cecil FIELDS, and Bob DECKER. Flag bearers were Dick REEVES and Vic KUCERA. He was the son of Stephen and Annie ( Telgren) PREVO, born on a farm south of Oakdale on August 3, 192. He was baptized in the United Brethren Church, of which he was a member during his youth. He attended elementary and high-school in Oakdale. During World War II he was and the U. S. Army from 1942 to 1945 serving in the Pacific area in the 622nd Ordinance Company. After his return from military service, he entered the College of Pharmacy at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He graduated in 1949 and entered graduate college. He received a call to be a pharmacist in Tilden, and left school to take this position. He later purchased the Tilden drugstore, where he practiced until he retirement in 1976. He married Marie Louise RITTER on June 8, 1947 at the Peace United Church of Christ in Tilden. He was active in the Peace United Church of Christ, where he served on the church board, brotherhood, and was a member of the choir and men's quartet. In the community he served as an officer in the J.C's and commercial club. He was currently on the Housing Board and Cemetery Board. He was also a member of the American Legion, Oakdale Rod and Gun Club and the Nebraska Pharmacists Association. PREVO died on August 30, 1991 at St Mary's Hospital at Rochester, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, three sisters, Mrs Clyde fields of Tilden, Mrs Merle (Mildred) BRINK and Mrs. Leonard (Carol) OBERSHAW, both of Oakdale and one aunt, Rosa MARTENS of Oakdale.
