SAMUEL FLOYD PUGH

Samuel Floyd Pugh was born September 14, 1892, at Elgin, Nebraska, and passed away at his home in Oakdale November 12, 1944, at the age of fifty-two years, one month and twenty-eight days. When a young man he was baptized and joined the United Brethren church in Oakdale. In the year of 1918 he answered the call of his country and served in the First World War until the armistice was signed. He worked for the C. & N. W. before the war and after the war for the Missouri Pacific. On October 9, 1927, he was united in marriage to Leta BURKE. They made their home in Union until six years ago when his health failed and they moved to his old home in Oakdale, and then, suffering from the ravages of disease, he died in his home just as he so earnestly had wished. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife Leta; his son Jack PUGH, serving with the Navy overseas; his daughter, Mrs. R. L. HOSKINS, with her two children of Nebraska City; and his aged mother of Pierce. There also remain his five sisters: Mrs. Tom RORABAUGH, Charlotte, Mich., Mrs. Clarence KINNE, Nashville, Mich., Mrs. William BAILEY and Mrs. Earl REMINGTON, Fairpoint, SD., and Mrs. Art LOW, Pierce. Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon at the United Brethren church conducted by Rev. Paul Ward, assisted by Rev. H. G. LANGLEY. Burial was made in the Oakdale Cemetery where services were in charge of the American Legion.
