ALEX REA

A former Oakdale resident, Alex REA, 74, died April 28, 1958 in Orlando, Florida and funeral services were held Friday in the Oakdale Methodist Church. The Rev. I. Lester HART officiated. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Alex REA was born January 29, 1885 in Iowa. He was married to Hattie STANTON November 23, 1904 and six children were born to this union. The REAs lived in Oakdale many years at which time Mr REA operated a barber shop. He also managed grocery stores in Battle Creek and Meadow Grove. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs J. H. OPELASKIA of Orlando, Mrs Orie BONNER of Denver, and Mrs Donald BENNETT of Tulsa, three sons, Delmar of Norfolk, Max of Denver, and Fred of Tulsa, 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Mrs REA preceded him in death in 1952.

Harriett Pansy (STANTON) REA

Abridged: Funeral services for Mrs Alex Rea of Alliance, formerly of Oakdale, were held in the Methodist Church. Interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery. Harriett Pansy Rea, the daughter of Lawson and Melessa Ann (Van Heusen) Stanton, was born April 21, 1886 at Turin, Iowa and departed this life December 12, 1952 at Alliance, Nebraska. On November 23, 1904 she was united in marriage to Alex Rea at Turin, Iowa. To this union was born six children, all of whom survive her. At an earl age she united with the Methodist church at Turin, Iowa later transferring her membership to the United Brethren Church at Monroe, NE. her church was one of the major interests of her life and now after a life time of devotion, her Master has called her home. She is survived by her husband, three daughters, Mrs Eliza Bennett of Tulsa, OK, Mrs Audra Opalenskia of Orlando, FL, and Mrs Maybell Bonner of Scottsbluff, three sons, Fred of Wichita, KS, Delmar of Norfolk and Max of St Edward; twelve grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs R. F. Lewis of Nashville, IL and Mrs Ray Bigelow of Denver and one brother, George Stanton of Oakdale. One grandchild, Betty Bonner, preceded her in death.
