A.M. SCHWARTING

Funeral services for A. M. SCHWARTING, prominent stockman and feeder, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Friedens Evangelical church in Tilden, Rev. J. Kreuzer officiating. Burial was made in the IOOF Cemetery.

August Martin SCHWARTING was still a young man in the prime of his manhood when the final summons came to call him suddenly to his eternal reward. He became ill very quickly and after only one week succumbed in the early afternoon of Friday, April 12, at his home near Oakdale. At the time of his death he was aged thirty-eight years, five months and twelve days. He was born at Howells, Cumming County, Nebraska, on October 31, 1901, and three years later, in 1904, he came to this community where he spent his childhood, grew to manhood and lived until the time of his death. On September 3, 1922, he entered the union of holy matrimony with Miss Velda DUNCAN which lasted for about eleven years. On May 11, 1935, he was married to Miss Pauline ZURCHER at Valentine, to which union two children were born. He is survived by his wife and daughters, Shirley Jean SCHWARTING and Donna Mae SCHWARTING; his mother Mrs. Mary SCHWARTING of Oakdale; his Brothers, George SCHWARTING and William SCHWARTING of Oakdale and Louis SCHWARTING of Tilden; his sisters, Mrs. Anna KINNEY of Oakdale and Mrs. Lizzie BICKFORD of Lebanon, Oregon; other relatives and many friends.

ETTA MAE WETZEL SCHWARTING

Funeral services for Etta SCHWARTING, 90, of Oakdale were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 12, at the United Methodist Church in Oakdale with Rev. Matthew WENTZ officiating. Music was provided by Joe PETERSEN, vocalist, accompanied by Mrs Joe PETERSEN, organist. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery with Ron, Gene, Jan, Craig, Bill and Steve SCHWARTING serving as pallbearers. Etta Mae SCHWARTING, daughter of Henry and Ada PEETS WETZEL, was born January 14, 1894, at Oakdale and died March 9, 1984 at Norfolk. Mrs SCHWARTING lived in the Oakdale community all of her life. She was a member of the E. U. B. Church for many years. On March 27, 1912, she was married to George Henry SCHWARTING. This couple farmed southeast of Oakdale until moving to town in 1948. Mr SCHWARTING died in 1962. Mrs SCHWARTING was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sons, two daughters, one brother, five sisters and two grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Irvie and Alvin, and two half sisters, Mrs Cassie BLISS and Mrs Nina TELGREN, all of Oakdale.

Fritz SCHWARTING

Fritz Wilfred Schwarting was born near Oakdale November 26, 1914 and died at Winslow, NE, January 10, 1917 after a short illness. The remains were brought to Oakdale and funeral services, conducted by Rev. J. P. Blakely, were held at the U. B. Church last Saturday. Burial was made in the Oakdale Cemetery. The parents, Mr and Mrs George Schwarting, have the sympathy of the entire community in their loss.

GEORGE HENRY SCHWARTING

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 22 for George SCHWARTING, Oakdale, who died Thursday evening at the Tilden hospital. George Henry SCHWARTING, son of John and Marie SCHWARTING was born at Howells, Nebraska, February 14, 1889 and died Thursday July 19, 1962 at the age of 73 years, five months and four days. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Howells. In 1904, he moved with his parents to a farm southeast of Oakdale. In 1912, he was united in marriage to Etta WETZEL at Oakdale. To this union seven children were born, two daughters and one son preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife Etta, four sons, Harold of South Gate, California, Vance of Elgin and Irvie and Alvin of Oakdale, 15 grandchildren, two brothers, Louie of Tilden, William of Oakdale, two sisters, Mrs Anna KINNEY of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Mrs Lizzie BICKFORD of Grand Rondo, Oregon and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Oakdale and interment was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Pallbearers were Paul HOFACKER, Marvin SPRINGER, William SOULIER, Ralph EDWARDS, Freddie OPPLIGER, and Edd BOSSARD.

RANDY EUGENE SCHWARTING

Funeral services for Randy SCHWARTING of Oakdale were held Friday, June 22 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Oakdale. The Rev. Lance LIND officiated at the services with burial in the Oakdale Cemetery. Pallbearers were Nate CLAYBURG, Ivan KINNAN, Mike SANDERSON, Raymond CROSIER, James DANIELS, and Bruce PITZER. Randy Eugene SCHWARTING, son of Irvie and Betty SCHWARTING, was born November 30, 1958 at the Tilden Community Hospital and died June 19, 1979 at the age of 20 years, 6 months and 19 days. He grew up in the Oakdale community and attended Oakdale and Neligh schools. He was a member of the Methodist Church of Oakdale. Survivors include his parents, two brothers, Billy and Tony at home, three sisters, Mrs Alvin (Diana) WITTER of Graybill, Indiana, Mrs Henry (Judy) HERSHBERGER of Grand Island, and Miss Georgia SCHWARTING of the U. S. Air Force in Eglin, Florida, and grandparents, Mrs Etta SCHWARTING of Oakdale and Mr and Mrs Emmett MEDCALF of Sedro Valley, Washington.

REVA ROSE SCHWARTING

Reva Rose SCHWARTING was born October 16, 1918 and died February 17, 1934 at Oakdale, Nebraska at the age of fifteen years, four months and one day. She had at several other times had attacks of rheumatism but was able to overcome them. This sickness was of three weeks duration and in spite of skilled medical care, death was inevitable, as the rheumatism went to her heart. Reva was baptized in Fredons Church in Tilden early in childhood and was thought of as a model girl by all who knew her. She was the fourth child of Mr and Mrs George SCHWARTING. A brother, Fritz, and a sister, Majol, preceded her death. She leaves to mourn her departure her father and mother, four brothers, Harold, Vance, Irvin and Alvin, two grandmothers, and many other relatives besides a host of friends. She had reached the tenth grade in school and will be greatly missed by all her friends. Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon by Rev. R S KAUFFROATH of Tilden. Interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.
