CECIL EVANS STANTON

Funeral services for a long time Oakdale resident, Mrs Cecil STANTON, were held Wednesday, April 11, at 2 p.m., at the Oakdale Methodist Church with the Rev. Connie BEUHLER officiating. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery and serving as pallbearers were Ralph EDWARDS, Dolman REA, Ivan KINNAN, Louis KINNAN, Orville SHERMAN and Merle BRINK. Cecil STANTON was born at Rockport, Missouri, on January 19, 1893, to Tracy A and Lillian BETTENGER EVANS. She died Sunday, April 8, 1973, at Keahaven Nursing Home in Neligh at the age of 80 years, 2 months and 19 days. She came to Nebraska with her parents and brother when she was six years of age and lived in the Oakdale community most of her life except for a short time when she and her husband lived at Norfolk. Mrs STANTON was preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents and brother, Merle EVANS. Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

GEORGE W. STANTON

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Oakdale Methodist Church for George STANTON, 67, of Oakdale, who died May 14, 1958 at the Tilden hospital. Mr STANTON became ill while in Florida last fall and was hospitalized in February at which time a leg was amputated at the hip. He was returned to Antelope County by plane May 7 when he entered the hospital at Tilden. The Rev. I. Lester HART officiated at the rites Saturday and burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. George W. STANTON was born December 26, 1890 to Mr and Mrs Lawson STANTON at Turin, Iowa. He came to Oakdale as a young man and was married to Miss Cecile EVANS February 12, 1913 and they resided on a farm near Oakdale for many years. Mr STANTON worked for the state highway department 10 years and they resided in Norfolk for three years. the past 10 years were spent at Oakdale. He was an active member of the Oakdale Methodist Church and was affiliated with the Odd Fellows Lodge. He was also active in boy Scout work. Mr STANTON served several years as an Antelope County supervisor for the Oakdale district. Survivors are his wife and one sister, Mrs Minnie LEWIS of Nashville, Illinois.
