ALMA BROWNELL THOMAS

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 20 at the Methodist Church at Oakdale for Mrs Alma THOMAS, 77, longtime resident of Oakdale. The Rev. C J BUEHLER of Elgin officiated at the service and burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Pallbearers were Irvin WAGNER, Virgil PREVO, Clarence STRAHM, C R OLIN, Clyde FIELDS and Donald (Bud) OFE. Mrs THOMAS died Friday January 17,1969 at a convalescent nursing home at Covina, California. She was the former Alma BROWNELL, daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert BROWNELL, and was born and reared in the Melrose, Iowa vicinity. She married Glen THOMAS on February 17, 1915 at Logan, Iowa and they farmed one year near Clearwater and then southwest of Oakdale for a number of years until retiring and moving into Oakdale in 1944. Mr THOMAS died in 1966. Mrs THOMAS is survived by five children, Mrs Robert BETTENDORF of Norwalk, California, Mrs Richard LEWIS of Covina, California, Jack THOMAS of Norfolk, Bob THOMAS of Columbus, 10 grandchildren, two brothers, Roy BROWNELL of Logan, Iowa, and Dwaine BROWNELL of Minnesota, and two sisters, Mrs Charles WILLARD and Mrs Doris WILLARD, both of Logan.

GLEN G THOMAS

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 14 at the Oakdale Methodist Church at 2 p.m. for Glen G THOMAS with the Rev. Willis R TAPLIN officiating. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery with Irvin WAGNER, Chester OBERSHAW, Chester OLIN, Orris BRINK, Clarence STRAHM, and Virgil PREVO serving as pallbearers. Glen G Thomas was born March 29, 1891 at Neola, Iowa and died Sunday, June 12, 1966, at the Tilden Community Hospital after a brief illness at the age of 79 years, 3 months and 3 days. He spent his childhood days in Iowa. On February 17, 1915 he was married to Alma BROWNELL of Melrose, Iowa. After their marriage they moved to a farm near Clearwater where they resided one year. They then moved to a farm southwest of Oakdale where they lived until 1944 when they retired and moved to Oakdale. They observed their fiftieth wedding anniversary in 1965. Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Mrs Robert BETTENDORF of Norwalk, California and Mrs Richard LEWIS of Covina, California, three sons, Bob of Omaha, Jack of Norfolk, and Raymond of Columbus, 10 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs Effie JONES of Neligh.

KELLY JEAN THOMAS

Funeral services were held Thursday at the MARSHALL Mortuary in Tilden for Kelly Jean, the infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Bob THOMAS of Omaha, former Neligh and Oakdale residents. The Rev. E HART was in charge of the rites. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. The baby was born December 23, 1956 and her December 25, 1957, was due to strangulation. She was their only child. Survivors are her parents, and her grandparents, Mr and Mrs Glen THOMAS of Oakdale and Mr and Mrs Frank SIMUNEK of ELWOOD, IA.

RAYMOND R THOMAS

Services for Raymond R THOMAS, 68, Columbus, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at McKown Funeral Chapel here. Graveside rites will be a 3 p.m. at the cemetery in Oakdale. The Rev. M. Wendell DAVIS will officiate. Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Sunday and after 8 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. He died Thursday, June 3, 1993 at a Columbus hospital. He was born February 1, 1925 at Oakdale to Glen and Alma (BROWNELL) THOMAS. He attended school in Antelope County and graduated from Oakdale High School. He married Arlene KAHL October 11, 1945 at Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr THOMAS farmed near Oakdale before moving to Columbus in 1958, where he worked for Beton-Dickinson until retiring in 1986. Survivors include a son, Ron of Columbus, daughter, Janelle BARKER of Columbus, seven grandchildren, sisters, Lavonne BETTENDORF of Norwalk, California, and Garland LEWIS of Hemet, California, and brothers Bob of Omaha and Jack of Norfolk.
