Obituary-The Oakdale Sentinel-February 23, 1923

WASHINGTON WESLEY WHEELER

Washington Wesley WHEELER was born in Wabash County, Illinois, December 1, 1857. Here he spent his early manhood. He came to Nebraska thirty-eight years ago. On September 17, 1891 he and Mary May LAYTON were united in wedlock. To them were born five children, two having died in infancy. His wife also preceded him to the great beyond a number of years ago. Mr WHEELER had been in poor health for the past three years, yet his demise came as a shock as he had rallied from his recent sickness. A relapse brought a quick summons and in the early morning of February 15, 1923, he departed this life at the age of 65 years, 2 months and 14 days. He leaves to mourn and miss him three children, John L of Lusk, WY, Willis R and Mrs Pearl DRAKE of Oakdale, two brothers, Thomas WHEELER of Thomas, IL; George WHEELER of Ainsworth, two sisters, Mrs Eunice HITCH of Omaha, Mrs Hattie JACKSON of Ainsworth, six grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday, February 25, at the United Brethren Church conducted by Rev. A. B. SMALL and interment was in the Oakdale Cemetery.
